Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Rocket Town

FF7 Rebirth: Is Rocket Town in the Game?

Many players looked forward to visiting Rocket Town in FF7 Rebirth. The location is unique as it is the planet’s center of space travel and the hometown of Cid Highwind. We’ll discuss below whether you visit this place or not.

Do you visit Rocket Town in FF7 Rebirth?

Unfortunately, you can’t visit Rocket Town in FF7 Rebirth. This deviation from the original game’s storyline was disappointing since we expected a lore dump about Cid Highwind there. For some reason, the developers decided that the journey in Rebirth should skip directly from Nibelheim to the second visit to the Gold Saucer. As a result, we don’t hear or see anything about the significant events that originally took place in Rocket Town. Instead, we meet Cid and again the use of the Tiny Bronco after completing the story in the Gongaga Region.

The absence of Rocket Town and its omission from discussions and the world map in Rebirth is notable, considering Cid makes no mention of his hometown. The developers have taken great lengths to include the smallest details from other locations around the game, so we have to imagine this one will make it, too, eventually.

It’s possible that Rocket Town’s story arc and exploration might be reintroduced in future content, potentially through an Intermission DLC focused on Cid or within the trilogy’s concluding installment. Given the meticulous attention to detail and reverence for the original game demonstrated by the developers thus far, it’s reasonable to anticipate that we’ll see Rocket Town in some form. We know that the rocket there is used by Shinra in an unsuccessful attempt to destroy Meteror and that one of the Huge Materia is placed aboard. If gathering the Huge Materia continues to be a major goal for the party in the third FF7 Remake game as it was in the original, then we can almost count on seeing Rocket Town again.
