Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Vincent Valentine a Playable Character

FF7 Rebirth: Is Vincent a Playable Character?

Fans have eagerly anticipated the return of the mysterious and brooding Vincent Valentine in FF7 Rebirth, preferably as an active party member. As an optional character in the original, Vincent didn’t get much time in the spotlight, and many hoped the FF7 Remake trilogy would rectify this. So, if you’re wondering whether Vincent will join your party as a playable character, let’s delve into his role in the game.

Is Vincent an active party member in FF7 Rebirth?

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Vincent makes his anticipated appearance, staying true to his original introduction in Shinra Manor. However, despite the hopes of many, Vincent does not become an active party member you can control in battles or use to explore the game’s world. While he eventually tags along with Cloud and the rest of the party, his involvement is limited to the main plot and a specific side quest, positioning him more on the periphery of the action rather than at its center.

This decision to keep Vincent as a non-playable character might disappoint fans looking forward to adding him to their party. Fortunately, his presence in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is still impactful, and he’s officially been raised from optional character status. Vincent’s interactions with the main cast and involvement in certain plot points ensure that he remains an integral part of the journey, even if not directly under the player’s control.

Despite not being a playable character, Vincent does get to spend a few moments in the limelight. Some of these offer glimpses into his enigmatic nature and past and set the stage for him to get some significant screen time down the road. Fortunately, he’ll almost assuredly be a playable character in the third game in the trilogy, and we’ll get a chance to explore his past with Shinra, Sephiroth, Hojo, and Lucretia.
