Does Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Finish the Story

Will FF7 Rebirth Finish the Story?

Given how long we’ve waited for FF7 Rebirth, players are wondering if it’ll finish the story. However, they underestimated how expansive FF7 is and how much content was left to cover after the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Does FF7 Rebirth finish the story?

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the second game in a planned trilogy. So, it doesn’t finish the story. In fact, we know for sure there’s a lot left over for the third game since Square Enix has revealed where Rebirth ends.

God of War Ragnarok Spoilers

We already know that the Rebirth ends in the Forgotten Capital, which is the conclusion of Disc 1 in the original. So, here’s a brief rundown of what we can expect to see in the third game of the FF7 Remake trilogy:

  • Icicle Inn
  • Snowboarding
  • Great Glacier
  • Gaea Cliffs
  • Northern Crater (First Visit)
  • Upper Junon (After party is captured)
  • Obtaining the Highwind
  • The search for Cloud
  • Mideel
  • Restoring Cloud’s memory
  • Recovering the Huge Materia (now called Magnus Materia)
  • Assaulting the Underwater Reactor
  • The Submarine Battle
  • Comandeering the Shinra rocket
  • Revisiting Bugenhagen
  • Diamond Weapon attacks Midgar
  • Re-entering Midgar and second Shinra building assault.
  • Taking down Scarlet and Hojo
  • Confronting Sephiroth at the Northern Crater

In addition to the events above, there’s optional content from the original that may make it into a third game:

  • Emerald Weapon
  • Ruby Weapon
  • Chocobo Breeding
  • Ultimate Weapons
  • Ultimate Limit Breaks
  • Master Materia

We also don’t know how Wutai and Rocket Town will fit into things since they didn’t make it into Rebirth.

So, it’s easy to see that there’s plenty of content left for a third FF7 Remake game. While Rebirth ends at the end of Disc 1 of the original, players should keep in mind that Disc 3 is relatively short and that Disc 2 contains most of the remaining story.
