Where will FF7 Rebirth’s ending take place?

Strangely, we’ve known exactly where Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will end from the moment the game hit the official Square Enix Store: The Forgotten Capital. As you can see below, the official description spills the beans:

“FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is the highly anticipated new story in the FINAL FANTASY VII remake project, a reimagining of the iconic original game into three standalone titles by its original creators. In this game, players will enjoy various new elements as the story unfolds, culminating in the party’s journey to “The Forgotten Capital” from the original FINAL FANTASY VII.”

Obviously, events won’t occur exactly as they did in the original, but given how faithful the journey was in FF7 Remake, don’t expect too many deviations. So compared to the original, you can look forward to experiencing from Kalm to the end of Disc 1. This means it’s poised to end right after one of the most iconic scenes in gaming: Aerith’s death at the hands of Sephiroth.

If Square Enix was going to pick a cliffhanger, it couldn’t have chosen a much more fitting place. However, we should keep in mind that fate isn’t preordained in this telling of Final Fantasy 7, and the party may be able to change Aerith’s fate. Alternatively, another might take her place in an unexpected twist.
