The Starfield skill books item IDs are a crucial list for players using console commands. Many magazines appear in fixed locations throughout the world of Starfield, but the exact magazine that appears is randomized. So being able to add all of the skill books straight into the inventory using the console command prompt is great, since you don’t have to worry about the RNG and finding where they all are.
To apply each skill book item IDs, like the weapons and armor item IDs, you need to bring up the console command (usually the “~” key) and type “player.additem [item id] 1” where you can insert the item id of the magazine from the list below. Using cheats in this way, though, will disable Achievements. Please note that the console commands will only work on PC and not on Xbox platforms.

While you can change the “1” in the console command to another number so that you can get multiple copies of a magazine, it’s not really worth it. You can only get one permanent buff from each skill book.
It’s unclear whether these skill book buffs are carried over to new game plus. Through some testing, we believe that they are not carried over and that you can’t stack these buffs on multiple playthroughs.
Starfield Item ID FAQ
A: The Starfield skill books item IDs allow players to directly add skill books to their inventory using the console command prompt. This bypasses the random nature of finding these magazines in the game world, making it convenient for those who don’t want to rely on RNG.
A: To add a skill book, open the console command, typically using the “~” key. Then, type “player.additem [item id] 1”, replacing [item id] with the specific ID of the magazine you want from the list. Keep in mind that using these commands will disable Achievements and only work on PC, not Xbox platforms.
A: While you can add multiple copies of a magazine to your inventory by changing the “1” in the console command to another number, it’s not advisable. Each skill book offers a permanent buff, but you can only receive the buff once from each unique book. It’s also uncertain if these buffs carry over to new game plus or if they stack on multiple playthroughs.
