Starfield Sam Coe Romance Guide: How to Make Sam Your Boyfriend and Marry Him

The Starfield Sam Coe romance begins fairly early in the main storyline, so you can pursue this cowboy from Akila City as your boyfriend pretty soon after you start the game. Sam Coe is one of multiple romanceable options, and later on you can choose to have a commitment with him and propose a marriage. You’ll first meet him as part of the campaign as one of three options that you can choose to advance the story with the Constellation organization. Both Sam and his daughter Cora will wait in the small garden area of the Constellation lodge for you to approach them. Here’s how to romance Sam Coe in Starfield (with some minor spoilers below).

How to romance Starfield Sam Coe

Here are the following steps you need to take to romance Sam Coe:

  1. Finish the story campaign until you have access to the “The Early Nest” quest.
  2. Speak with Sam Coe to start “The Early Nest” in the Constellation lounge.
  3. Complete “The Early Nest” quest to unlock Sam as a companion. Then speak with him to make him your chosen companion throughout the game.
  4. Continue to play the game, waiting until Sam says that he wants to speak with you. When this happens, you’ll have a conversation with him where you have the choice to select “Flirt” dialogue options.
  5. Repeat Step 4, choosing to flirt with Sam eight times throughout your adventure.
  6. Sam and Cora will eventually alert you to a matter involving Sam’s wife. You’ll need to complete the “Matters of the Hart” quest with Sam as a companion.
  7. After that, you’ll soon be able to talk with Sam and select “Commitment” as an option to marry him. If so, you’ll need to complete the “Commitment: Sam Coe” quest to complete the marriage ceremony with him and his family.

Sam Coe leans toward the neutral good side in terms of alignment. He likes when you’re empathetic and charitable, choosing to try and resolve things as amicably as possible. Supporting his feelings toward his father and being thoughtful about this daughter will always raise his opinion of you.

Once Sam (or anyone) becomes your committed partner, you’ll earn the Emotional Security buff after you rest, giving you 24 minutes of 15% XP gain. This is an upgrade from the Well-Rested buff that you normally get from sleeping.
