Starfield unarmed weapons don’t appear in the beginning of the game. Your first fights in the story pit you against various groups of pirates, but they only drop guns and melee weapons like combat knifes and perhaps an axe. Exploring the mining station and a facility taken over by enemies will also turn up the same thing. This might be a surprise if you’re a fan of Bethesda games, like Fallout 3 and 4, and are wondering about whether there’s the equivalent of brass knuckles or a Power Fist you can use in the game. Here’s whether there are unarmed weapons in Starfield.
Are there Starfield unarmed weapons?
Unfortunately, there are no unarmed weapons in the game. No Power Fist, brass knuckles, or even boxing gloves.
There is a possibility that there is something like a Power Fist in the game, but after exploring the game for 50+ hours, we were not able to find any kind of unarmed weapon. This is after looting the bodies of many pirates, criminals, and gang members and exploring many of the major cities, including New Atlantis and others, and pouring through all the available vendor shops. We were only able to find melee weapons, like ripshanks and wakizashis, which work differently than unarmed attacks.
This is a bit of a shocking, since the skill tree for the game does cater to an unarmed fighting style. The Physical tree features Boxing, Martial Arts, and Neurostrikes as ways to increase your punch damage and give them various crowd-control effects. From a design perspective, Bethesda decided to forego unarmed weapons in favor of skills instead, as far as the progression of unarmed strikes is concerned.
Now, it is possible that sometime in the future, Bethesda could introduce unarmed weapons in some kind of DLC. Even with the various skills you can learn, unarmed strikes don’t do a lot of damage compared to guns, particularly against midgame and endgame bosses. So balancing this out could be something the developers could be looking into.

A: While it’s surprising given the available skills, Bethesda appears to have chosen a design approach that focuses on skills for unarmed progression rather than actual unarmed weapons. The Physical skill tree in Starfield offers skills like Boxing, Martial Arts, and Neurostrikes to enhance your unarmed damage and introduce various crowd-control effects.
A: While the game currently lacks unarmed weapons, it’s conceivable that Bethesda could introduce them in a future DLC or update. Considering unarmed strikes aren’t as powerful as guns, especially against tougher opponents, the developers might consider balancing this aspect in upcoming content.
