Capcom is on a remake spree when it comes to the Resident Evil franchise. Beginning with RE2, continuing with RE3, and soon-to-be happening with RE4, many Resi fans are wondering whether there will be a Resident Evil 5 Remake release date or, at the very least, some form of remaster for current-gen consoles like the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and latest gaming PC hardware.
Is there a Resident Evil 5 Remake release date?
The Resident Evil 5 Remake release date is expected to be announced in 2025.
It’s important to note that there has been no official acknowledgment of a Resident Evil 5 Remake being in the works. The 2025 announcement date is purely an estimate based on the timelines of previous projects. New RE remakes have been announced every 3-4 years, with the last one revealed in June 2022. Assuming the pattern continues, and it might not for a multitude of reasons, the RE5 Remake release date estimate of 2025 appears most likely.
Resident Evil 5 introduced campaign co-op to the series, with player one taking control of Chris Redfield and player two put into the shoes of Sheva Alomar. Having to reproduce the online component may be tricky and lead to more development time, so that should be factored in when expecting a release date announcement.
With Resident Evil 4 Remake launching March 24, 2023, it’s unlikely that fans will hear about a potential RE5 remaster until after that launch. Assuming there are no early leaks, Capcom is likely to focus on pushing RE4 Remake promotions until March.
