Nearly six years have passed since the release of Mirror’s Edge Catalyst and players are still wondering if there will be a new game in the franchise. Will Mirror’s Edge 3 be a sequel or a prequel? Could it be a completely different story or a reboot instead? There are several questions for which players need answers and we’re here with up-to-date information about the Mirror’s Edge 3 release date.
Is there a Mirror’s Edge 3 release date?
A Mirror’s Edge 3 release date has not been announced.
There’s a possibility Mirror’s Edge 3 could be released in the future on PS5, PS4, PC, and Xbox consoles. EA does not seem to have retired or canceled the Mirror’s Edge IP. Although sales of the original Mirror’s Edge on PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 were disappointing back in 2009, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst was not considered to be a failure with the game selling enough to make a profit. The franchise’s website is still live and the companion app is still functioning.
Will there be another Mirror’s Edge game/sequel?
A new Mirror’s Edge game has not been confirmed.
There is a possibility of a sequel, although Mirror’s Edge 2 was previously canceled back in 2011 after early prototypes turned out to be disappointing. However, since then Mirror’s Edge Catalyst was released in 2016 on PS4, PC, and Xbox One as a prequel to Mirror’s Edge, focusing on the origins of protagonist Faith. Mirror’s Edge 3 could be a sequel, a reboot, or even a brand new storyline completely.
However, previous teases on EA Twitter accounts have been shot down and a new Mirror’s Edge game does not seem to be a priority right now. The last potential tease came on EA France’s Twitter account in April 2021 although that was soon dismissed. At the time, the publisher said “If we tease something one day, you will know it right away, don’t worry!”
