How to Install Battlefield 3 Reality Mod

It may be tough figuring out how to install the Battlefield 3 Reality Mod, so here is a step-by-step guide in making sure you set the RM mod version 0.10 up correctly. Thankfully, you don’t have to wait for the mod, which will release on July 17, to follow each step and do a partial installation. The RM server just won’t be available until that date arrives.

How to Install the BF3 Reality Mod

  1. Make sure you have a fully licensed and updated version of Battlefield 3, and that you have purchased all of the DLC for the game either on Steam or Origin. Also make sure that your computer meets the the game’s system requirements (posted in the next section).
  2. Run the vanilla version of Battlefield 3 once to create settings files
  3. Download and install the Venice Unleashed (VU) Client (available here)
  4. Launch the VU Client (optional launch commands can be input here)
  5. Sign up and then log in with your VU account
  6. Link your account on Origin to the account, running Origin or the EA App in the background (Steam users will need to install Origin anyway)
  7. Create a Player (1 account can have up to 4 “players”)
  8. Go to server browser and search for RM (or you can filter the results by using the “realitymod” tag)
  9. Join the RM server of your choice

As a note, the reason you need to have all the Battlefield 3 DLC is because the Reality Mod uses assets across many of the game’s maps. To make compatibility easy, you can purchase the Battlefield 3 Premium Edition.

BF3 Reality Mod System Requirements

Battlefield 3 Reality Mod

  • Windows 7 (64-bit), or newer
  • Quad-core CPU at 3.0GHz
  • 8 GM RAM
  • Base frequency of 1120MHz and 4GB video memory
  • DirectX 11
  • 20GB of free space
  • Constant internet connection for VU

As inspired by the prior Project Reality mod for BF2, the BF3 Reality Mod overhauls the base gameplay and UI, emphasizing the value of a single life to make sure that “you are contributing to your team’s victory.” It will include 100+ players in large-scale battles, in-game VoiP, and dynamic weather elements with a day-night cycle. As this mod is in its early stages, you can expect it to change over time with user data and player feedback.

In other news, Ubisoft has backtracked on removing games like Assassin’s Creed Liberation on Steam, and fans want a Thor: Love and Thunder trigger warning due to the movie’s scenes on cancer.
