Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.5 Update

Patch 1.5 marks the release of the next-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077. It comes with a smattering of free DLC and new features, like purchasing new apartments and changing the player character’s appearance. However, we’ll be focusing on what changes the patch makes to existing systems.

AI

There are improvements across the board when it comes to NPC AI. The AI will react to the player’s attacks during combat by taking cover, dodging, repositioning, blocking, and other actions. Different factions will also have different combat behaviors. Some might be cautious, while others are reckless or aggressive. Some pedestrian NPCs will become hostile to the player as a reaction to aiming, shooting, or fighting (only available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S).

NPCs’ non-combat AI is also improved. Crowd reactions and pathfinding should be improved, and the much-memed mass despawning should be reduced or eliminated.

Driving

CD Projekt RED has almost completely overhauled driving with the following changes:

  • New Burn Out Mode.
  • New braking system with ABS simulation.
  • Improved engine simulation.
  • Clutch simulation added.
  • Gearbox simulation improved.
  • Motorcycle physics and handling improved.
  • Additionally, driving AI can now panic in reaction to danger. It can also react properly to fender benders.

More

There are way too many improvements that come with Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.5 to list here. This looks like it may be the big update that finally turns the game around. It addresses many of the issues players faced and hopefully sets a firm foundation for CD Projekt RED to build on with DLC.
