Cyberpunk 2077 paid DLC likely delayed until at least 2022

The debacle surrounding Cyberpunk 2077 has not stopped since the game is still in a shaky state a month later, especially on consoles. Marcin Iwiński, co-founder at CD Projekt Red, recently apologized for the whole situation on the game’s Twitter account and also laid out a rough roadmap for the year. These nebulous plans included the free DLC as well as the next-gen upgrades of the game. However, this yellow-soaked map was missing just one thing: the paid DLC. And given that absence, the Cyberpunk 2077 paid DLC was likely delayed out of 2021.

Was the Cyberpunk 2077 paid DLC delayed?

CD Projekt Red did not explicitly talk about the Cyberpunk 2077‘s paid DLC, but it wasn’t included in the above roadmap, implying that it had been pushed out of 2021. The studio has a lot on its plate as shown by the “multiple updates and improvements,” free DLC, and next-gen updates sections on the imprecise calendar. And all of the extra fixing and tweaking combined with smaller add-ons (which have been pushed from their prior time period) probably didn’t leave a lot of room for paid expansions on the level of The Witcher 3‘s to come out in 2021. And speaking of, CDPR is still developing PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the 2015 RPG as well, further adding to the list of things to do.

While The Witcher 3 had its own sets of launch woes, it took about five months for Hearts of Stone to release. Blood and Wine took another seven months after that. Given the extreme circumstances here — the pandemic, array of systems to accommodate, and an overall buggier game that needs more fixing — it was already very possible that Cyberpunk 2077‘s paid DLC wouldn’t be coming anytime soon. But given how that DLC wasn’t even in the roadmap for the whole 2021 section, it looks like the expansions will be further in the future than previously thought.
