The fourth season of Stranger Things hasn’t had any major leaks, but we have enough clues to make an educated guess on what the story will be this time around.
The entire cast is returning for the latest season, which seems like it will be split between Hopper’s story as a prisoner in a Soviet facility in Kamchatka, and the gang reunited during Spring Break. Around a year has passed since the events of season 3, and it’s been teased that a new foe will surface that will connect all the dots of the series’ mythology.
Will this be the last season?
There’s only been a one-year gap in-universe for every 2-3 years in real life. As such, it’s becoming more and more noticeable that the actors are 19-20-year-olds playing characters that are supposed to be 15-16. As with any series featuring children or young adults, there’s a time limit before the show either has to end or the writers need to account for the actors growing up.
The way we see it, if Stranger Things continues to age the characters up one year in-universe while still taking 2-3 years to produce a season, the show will either have to end or there will have to be a major time skip. So we could see the fourth season being the last for the show, especially since the actors likely want to avoid being typecast. However, we’d bet money on this run of episodes setting up a big conclusion in Stranger things Season 5.
