The Black Adam main bad guy being Sabbac makes a lot of sense when the character’s looked into, as he is an enemy that works for both Black Adam and his own opposite number Shazam. The main villain in Black Adam is strongly rumored to be Sabbac, who is mostly a Shazam villain but has had associations with Black Adam in the past — including in the New 52 run of Shazam, where Black Adam teamed up with Sabbac to destroy Philadelphia. 2019’s Shazam movie is strongly based on this run. Shazam and Black Adam teamed up to fight Sabbac in the older 52 comic series, where Black Adam was a major character — and which seems to be an influence on the Black Adam movie.
Sabbac is called a “dark opposite” to Shazam. Whereas Shazam and Black Adam get their powers from the gods, Sabbac gets his from demons — his name comes from “Satan, Aym, Belial, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Crateis.” Like with Billy Batson and Teth-Adam, the demons choose a champion to get their powers, with names including Timothy Karnes and Ishmael Gregor. Websites The Illuminerdi and Murphy’s Multiverse previously reported that Sabbac would be the villain of Black Adam, with Murphy’s Multiverse writer JJ confirming that it still seems to be the case.

Who is playing the Black Adam Sabbac villain role?
The rumor suggests that Marwan Kenzari (Aladdin, The Mummy) is playing the Ishmael Gregor version of Sabbac. Kenzari’s role has not yet been announced, but The Illuminerdi suggested he is playing someone called Ishmael seeking the Crown of Sabbac — a mysterious crown featured in the Black Adam teaser footage so it may well be this item. There have been a lot of rumors regarding the Black Adam movie, from a crossover with The Suicide Squad to maybe featuring an appearance by Wonder Woman, but fans won’t find out for sure until closer to it’s July 2022 release.
