Is it possible to play the GTA Trilogy offline with the Rockstar Games Launcher still being down? The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition PC version has been pulled from sale by Rockstar Games thanks to the issues with the Rockstar Games Launcher being offline, leaving PC players unable to play the game they paid for, but is GTA Trilogy PC offline play possible? Here’s how to play GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition offline on PC without the Rockstar Launcher being connected.
Is GTA Trilogy offline play possible on PC?
To play the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definitive Edition on PC offline without the Rockstar Games Launcher:
- Open the Rockstar Games Launcher.
- Find the GTA Trilogy install folder.
- Navigate to GamefaceBinariesWin64 and run SanAndreas.exe or the equivalent for GTA 3 or Vice City, depending on what is installed.
- The update message on the Rockstar Games Launcher should disappear and the game should now be available.
- If it doesn’t work, try closing and restarting either the launcher or the PC.
The main issue most PC players are having with playing the GTA Trilogy offline is the Rockstar Games Launcher insisting on an update before it’ll play, but as the launcher’s servers are down then it has nowhere to get the update. Please bear in mind that this method does not work for everyone, it seems. Try different variations as some players have reported that it works. The only other option is waiting for Rockstar to bring the launcher back online for everyone, unfortunately.
Of course, there wouldn’t be so many problems if the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition was just available on Steam like previous versions, and PC players have found the system specifications to be rather high for a set of remastered PS2 games too. Still, at least there haven’t been any extra songs removed in this version.
