New World Mounts Update: News, release date, and when are they being added?

What is the latest New World mounts update? The essential horse-riding equipment has long been promised in Amazon Studios’ MMORPG, but has yet to arrive. As a key part of the medieval experience, fans are wondering where they are. Fear not, as we provide a New World mounts update. We’ll break down any news, as well as a release date, so you know when they are being added.

When is the New World mounts release date?

New World Mounts

At the time of writing, there is no New World mounts release date.

In a roundtable discussion from November 2020, courtesy of WCCFTech, Amazon Studios assured fans that mounts would be in the game. However, they weren’t in this summer’s pre-release beta, and they aren’t in the launched title. Since mounts have yet to be directly addressed by the developers since launch, you can expect it’ll be a good while until mounts are being added.

What is the latest New World mounts news?

In terms of news on New World mounts, there’s generally quite little to speak of. As of present, there’s no information from Amazon Studios to suggest that mounts are in their short-term plans. That said, the aforementioned developers’ roundtable does provide some insight into their approach.

“We’ll add mounts when we feel players will benefit from them,” said Game Director Scot Lane. That suggests it’ll take at least one map expansion before they consider adding mounts. Presumably, they would let you ride horses across the world. As of present, the developers deem the map too small to necessitate that function.

Since that statement in November 2020, there hasn’t been any news on New World mounts. The game map hasn’t been expanded since its launch in September 2021, though a recent leak suggested expansions are being worked on. Until those are official, though, we’ll have to wait and see for more news on mounts.

For even more on New World, we’ve got details on how to fix the ‘crafting attempt failed’ bug, and what Gear Score Watermarks do.
