Back 4 Blood What is Bullet Stumble

Back 4 Blood: What is bullet stumble?

In Back 4 Blood, some attachments increase “bullet stumble,” but, like with some of its other mechanics, the game doesn’t do a good job of explaining what this stat does. Without information on how it affects the game, many players might choose to ignore anything that increases the stat, which might be a significant mistake. Fortunately, we’ve figured out how bullet stumble works in Back 4 Blood, and we’ll share that knowledge here.

What does bullet stumble do in Back 4 Blood?

Back 4 Blood what is bullet stumble how does it work

Bullet stumble is a mechanic in Back 4 Blood that staggers enemies when they’re hit by gunfire. This is most noticeable with normal Ridden, but works on all enemies, especially Tallboys, Crushers, and Bruisers.

It’s easy to overlook bullet stumble since it’s one of those invisible stats like bullet penetration. However, despite it not being visible, each firearm has a bullet stumble stat, which determines how long a hit from it stuns an enemy. While we don’t have hard numbers, in our experience, weapons that use pistol ammo have the weakest bullet stumble, and those that use sniper rifle ammo have the most.

There’s a way to increase a gun’s bullet stumble stat, but players will have to depend on good RNG to do so. The Fast HP Mag attachment increases reload speed and bullet penetration. Alternatively, players can equip the Extended HP Mag attachment to increase magazine size and bullet stagger. Fortunately, almost every firearm in the game can take a magazine attachment.

Despite the mechanic being underexplained in the game. Bullet stumble can be incredibly useful, especially on the Tallboy-type Ridden. It can prevent the creature’s overhead smash, which can be incredibly damaging.

On higher difficulty levels, stats become more and more important, and players will want to maximize their firearm’s utility. Bullet stumble can be a lifesaver, and now players are equipped to make the most of it.
