Ubisoft’s Far Cry 6 is out now, which, inevitably, means there’s a launch day update to download and install. The Far Cry 6 day one patch applies to the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game; as one of the benefits of Google Stadia cloud streaming, Stadia users needn’t worry about updates. Here’s the latest on the FC6 day one update available starting today, October 7, 2021.
Far Cry 6 day one update patch notes
The Far Cry 6 day one patch improves performance, especially on Xbox One where the game won’t launch for some players. Additionally, the FC6 launch day update aims to reduce the frequency of “Snowshoe” errors in co-op multiplayer sessions.
Ubisoft is yet to release a list of all Far Cry 6 patch notes. The FC6 developer did recommend downloading the update on Xbox One specifically, however, along with revealing its plans for targetting Snowshoe errors in cooperative sessions. Day one maintenance is now complete, so launch window players should be able to experience fewer connectivity issues when playing online.
🛠 Maintenance 🛠
In order to reduce the amount of Snowshoe errors players may encounter when playing co-op, we'll be performing a short maintenance. During this time matchmaking will be unavailable.

In the absence of official patch notes, it’s difficult to say precisely what tweaks and improvements the update includes. FC6 has some general performance problems, along with more specific issues like the Xbox HD Texture Pack not working. It’s possible that the launch day Far Cry 6 update addresses these issues wholly or in part, though, ultimately, only time will tell without confirmation from the dev team.
Hopefully, this is a Far Cry 6 crashing patch to help out players experiencing the worst of the game’s issues. FC6 already has some big design flaws, so additional performance issues are not a welcome occurrence for anyone.
