It’s Far Cry 6 launch day, though Ubisoft seemingly isn’t catering to a large portion of the gaming audience. The new FPS game is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia — but, what about Nintendo Switch? Is there a Far Cry 6 Nintendo Switch release date coming up? Here’s the need-to-know info on potential Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED versions of FC6.
Is Far Cry 6 coming to Nintendo Switch?
The Far Cry 6 launch date is October 7, 2021. This relates to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions of the game; there is no FC6 Nintendo Switch release date.
Although FC6 developer Ubisoft does support the Switch platform, historically, it doesn’t release Far Cry games on Nintendo’s hybrid handheld console. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the latest installment in the franchise is going to break the mold and change that pattern anytime soon.
It’s likely that the Nintendo Switch family of systems wouldn’t be capable of running Far Cry 6 natively, at least not without significant downgrades. One possibility is an eventual Far Cry 6: Cloud Version for Switch, enabling users to stream the game over the internet. Games like the upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy are leveraging this technology to serve Nintendo Switch owners.
Since there’s an existing Google Stadia version, streaming FC6 is definitely possible. Whether a Far Cry 6 Nintendo Switch cloud streaming release date will ever happen remains to be seen. It’s only possible to speculate in the absence of any official confirmation, of course, so watch this space for updates.
Nintendo Switch fans aren’t the only ones wondering if they can play Far Cry 6 on their platform of choice. Many want to know if FC6 Xbox Game Pass and Steam versions are on the way as well.
