Far Cry 6 Steam release date

When is the Far Cry 6 Steam release date?

Far Cry 6 is coming to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Stadia. With such a spread of platforms, including computers, many are wondering where the FC6 Steam Store listing is. With that in mind, is there a Far Cry 6 Steam release date? Here’s the lowdown on this brand-new FPS game coming to Steam in addition to the Ubisoft Store and Epic Games Store (EGS) on PC.

Is Far Cry 6 coming to Steam?

Far Cry 6 Steam release date

The Far Cry 6 PC launch day is October 7, 2021. There is no Far Cry 6 Steam release date; FC6 is available via Ubisoft and Epic Games’ digital storefronts.

According to Ubisoft, Far Cry 6 “will not be available on Steam” at launch or (seemingly) in the future. While this is disappointing for Steam users, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Although Far Cry 5 is available via Steam, more recently, Ubisoft has been opting to keep its new releases off the platform.

In an interview with The New York Times, Ubisoft Vice President Chris Early said that Steam caries an “unrealistic” business model. Owing to this belief, Ubisoft games including Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and now Far Cry 6 are dodging the storefront. In business terms, the decision makes sense; selling via EGS increases the profit margin for each game sold while selling via the Ubisoft Store results in no revenue split.

While the decision to keep Far Cry 6 off Steam might increase Ubisoft profits, it isn’t without controversy. Many Steam devotees feel betrayed by the French developer and publisher, simply opting to boycott the title instead of purchasing it elsewhere.

In other news, Diablo 2: Resurrected is great — that’s despite being “almost too close to the original.”

Over in the world of cinema, Sony seemingly forgot to release its latest movie on the scheduled date. Despite suffering several lengthy delays, No Time to Die is finally in theatres right now. For those who’ve seen it (or don’t mind spoilers), check out this comprehensive ending explainer.
