Apple has just revealed the newest iPad Mini 6. Slated to release in 2021, the company’s latest and smallest tablet is growing — not only in size, but in power. This tablet might be miniature, but it’s no slouch, since it now features one of Apple’s fastest processors. But there are several other new features too, including some never before seen in this range. Here’s what you need to know if you’re comparing old iPad Minis to the new 2020 iPad Mini 6.
What’s new on the iPad Mini 6?
The iPad Mini 6 is bringing Apple’s smallest tablet into 2021 with style. Not only does it include a USB-C connection and 5G connectivity, the iPad Mini 6 touts vastly extended battery life and significantly improved performance when compared to previous models.
First up are the basics. Being the smallest in the line, the iPad Mini 6 features a 8.3″ Liquid Retina display. This is a slight increase in size over previous models, but the form factor is still small enough to fit into most hands or pockets. But don’t be fooled, because the Mini 6 still packs a punch. Apple has tucked its latest A15 Bionic chip under the hood, meaning the new tablet sports a 40% faster CPU and an 80% faster GPU.
However, for most users, the biggest features are the new changes. The iPad Mini 6 uses a USB-C connection, setting it apart from Apple’s family of mobile phones. While Lightning is nowhere to be seen, this does at least mean you’ll be able to connect a wealth of different accessories.
Apple is also releasing the Mini 6 in models with full 5G connectivity. If being able to stay connected while away from WiFi internet is important, there shouldn’t be much that the newest iPad Mini can’t do for you.
Granted, these aren’t exactly massive changes to Apple’s standard design. But the addition of USB-C and 5G connectivity to the iPad Mini 6 will certainly draw the attention of a specific subset of users. Of course, everyone else might be interested in the newly revealed iPad 9.
