Apple hasn’t announced an iPad Pro 6 release date yet, and it’s one of the trickier products to make predictions about. While iPhones are revealed and come out every September like clockwork, iPads are a wildcard. However, we have some guesses as to when we’ll see the next iteration of the Pro line.
Will iPad Pro 6 release in 2022 or 2023?
We’d put the odds at around 50-50 as to whether the iPad Pro 6th Generation comes out in 2022 or 2023. Unfortunately, as you can see from the release dates below, there’s not a real pattern for us to examine. There were almost two years between the release first and second generations, and another year and a half gap between gens 3 and 4.
- 1st Gen:
- November 11, 2015 – 12.9″
- March 31, 2016 – 9.7″
- 2nd Gen: June 13, 2017
- 3rd Gen: November 7, 2018
- 4th Gen: March 25, 2020
- 5th Gen: May 21, 2021
There’s still the possibility that Apple will have another event in October or November 2022 where it may announce the iPad Pro 6. Otherwise, it may be revealed during its Spring 2023 event in March or April.
However, one thing makes us think we might see a longer cycle with this generation. The fifth gen has an M1 SoC, which is roughly equivalent to an M1 MacBook Air/Pro. Apple already caught criticism that it didn’t allow users to dual-boot into MacOS and that the specs were overkill for iPadOS. So, we can’t see a way for Apple to improve its design in just a year. From this perspective, I’m guessing that Apple will reveal the next iPad Pro sometime in March 2024.
