Psychonauts 2 Physical Copy: How to get copies on PS4 and Xbox

The long-awaited Psychonauts 2 is out now, bringing the adventures of Raz to consoles for the first time since 2005. The game takes place immediately after the original, as Raz fully integrates into the Psychonauts special program, and handles his first assignment. Currently, the only way to buy Psychonauts 2 is to head to your platform’s online store: the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam Marketplace, among others. If you’re a fan of physical copies, you might be wondering how to get a disk version of Psychonauts 2. Here’s all the information you’ll need.

How to get PS4 and Xbox copies of Psychonauts 2

Psychonauts 2 Physical Copy

Bad news if you’re holding out for a disk version of Psychonauts 2 for your console: developers Double Fine Productions aren’t planning on releasing a physical version of the game. Only a lucky few backers have a disk copy of Psychonauts 2, and there’s no indication that they’ll be re-releasing disks soon.

Yes, the only way you could get a Psychonauts 2 physical copy is if you had backed the game’s campaign on Fig, back in 2019. Double Fine has confirmed that “physical copies are being produced for our Fig backers but will not be available for wider retail.”

Unless you managed to back Psychonauts 2 on Fig in 2019, then, it’ll be nearly impossible to get your hands on a disk copy of the game. However, there is some reason for optimism, as when asked about potential disks in the future, Double Fine had this to say: “There may be paths towards something post-launch but I also can’t make a promise on that either. We’re definitely aware of the interest!”

While there’s nothing concrete, it means there is some cause for hope. We recommend keeping an eye on the Amazon results for Psychonauts 2. If Double Fine announces a physical copy, you’ll definitely see it here.
