How to choose character between Ratchet and Rivet

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart: How to choose character between Ratchet and Rivet

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart features two playable Lombax characters: Ratchet and Rivet. Though they share similar skills and weapon arsenals, making gameplay almost essentially identical between the pair, players may be wondering how to switch between them. When playing as Rivet, for example, users may wonder how to change back to Ratchet.

How to choose character between Ratchet and Rivet

To switch between Ratchet and Rivet in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, players will need to select a new planet.

The 10 different planets that players can fast travel to are split up between the two characters. To switch to a new character, players must choose one of the other planets.

Unfortunately, for those hoping to switch without changing to a new location, that isn’t possible. For example, only Rivet can take on the Arena. There’s no way to go through the Arena with Ratchet.

It’s worth noting that collecting Gold Bolts does allow players to switch the melee weapon of each character. Ratchet can eventually unlock the ability to use Rivet’s hammer, while Ratchet can ultimately unlock the ability to equip Ratchet’s wrench.

After collecting all Gold Bolts, players may be surprised to see that there are no player model skin swaps. There’s no Rivet skin for Ratchet, for example.

It’s also not possible to swap Kit out for Clank, or vice versa. The robot choice is determined based on the planet being visited.

As mentioned in the intro, both Ratchet and Rivet play the same and can even look the same with matching armor. However, their voices will remain different.
