One of the most exciting surprise announcements from today’s PlayStation Showcase was the news that Insomniac Games will be making a game about Wolverine. The beloved claw-wielding X-Men hero will have his own solo video game adventure. Unsurprisingly, the news has taken Marvel fans by storm. If you’re reeling from the news and want to know when you’ll be able to play it, we’ve got all the details on the Insomniac Wolverine game release date.
What is the Insomniac Wolverine game release date?
Currently, we don’t how the Insomniac Wolverine game release date. The title was only announced today, and seems to be very early in the development stages. If we had to guess, it’ll likely come out nearer to 2025.
The prospective 2025 release window is based on developer Insomniac Games’ common release schedule, as well as details on their upcoming releases. For context, the gap between their two most recent games, Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, was three years. We also know that the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to launch in 2023, two years after Rift Apart. Balancing that two-to-three year gap, it places Marvel’s Wolverine at around 2025.
Of course, this is far from official, and is the best estimate we can make at this early stage in development. As we begin to move back out of the pandemic, game production will hopefully return to pre-2020 levels, meaning there should be less delays and pushbacks. As such, Marvel’s Wolverine could come out earlier. However, for a game as hyped as this, it’s best for Insomniac to take their time.
It’ll likely be at least a year until we hear anything more about Marvel’s Wolverine. The announcement is still incredibly exciting, nonetheless. While it seems a long way off in the future, the blade-shredding adventures should be worth the wait.
