So, here’s how to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 as an existing Nioh 2 owner; the transition to Nioh 2 Remastered is easy with a little know-how.

After spending money on a new game, like Nioh 2, it can be frustrating to see an upgraded version released shortly thereafter. By offering a free upgrade, though, Sony and Team Ninja have solved that problem and kept everyone happy. But, there is still one issue — claiming the Nioh 2 PS5 upgrade isn’t as easy as it could be.

  1. Boot up the PlayStation 5 console.
  2. Install the PS4 version of Nioh 2.
    • Digital owners can search via the Game Library or PlayStation Store.
    • Physical owners simply need to insert the disc and select the “Copy” option.
  3. Once the installation is complete, navigate to the PlayStation Store via the console home screen.
  4. Select the magnifying glass icon to use the search function.
  5. Enter “Nioh 2 Remastered PS5 Upgrade” into the search box.
  6. Choose “Nioh 2 Remastered (PS5 Upgrade)” from the available options.
  7. Download and install the free update.

Those with a physical copy of Nioh 2 will need to hold onto their PS4 game disc. In order to play Nioh 2 Remastered on PS5 after claiming the free upgrade, the disc must be inserted into the console at all times.

Now that the upgrade from PS4 to PS5 is complete, Nioh 2 will appear as Nioh 2 Remastered. The PlayStation 5 version boasts improved graphics, display resolution, and FPS making it the definitive way to play. Better yet, users can retain their progress by performing a save data transfer.

Upgrading via this method doesn’t include all of the DLC as standard, unlike buying The Nioh Collection directly. All of the Nioh 2 expansions are well worth the standalone asking price, however.
