Nioh Collection PS5 Mode, 4K Mode, and 120fps mode differences

The Nioh Collection PS5 version is a technically beefed up port of Nioh and Nioh 2. And upon launching either one of the games, it offers the player three modes: PS5 Mode, 4K Mode, and a 120 fps Mode. Both Nioh Remastered and Nioh 2 Remastered don’t do a good job at explaining what each of them do. Here are the differences between the Nioh Collection PS5 Mode, 4K Mode, and 120 fps Mode.

Nioh Collection 4K Mode details

The Nioh Collection 4K Mode is exactly what it sounds like as it runs Nioh Remastered and Nioh 2 Remastered at a 4K resolution. The game still runs at 60 frames per second and outputs at 4K if the television supports it. It does not have the added details of the PS5 mode. This for the people who want a high resolution and are fine with decent visual settings.

Nioh Collection 120 fps Mode details

The Nioh Collection 120 fps Mode runs the game at 120 frames per second, which is double at the other modes. Of course, this is only available for people with displays that support such a high frame rate. To accommodate this mode, the game will also run at 1080p. It also does not appear to have the PS5 Mode additions. This is for players who want an extremely fast frame rate above everything else (resolution and graphical detail). Again, this requires a 120Hz display.

The Nioh Collection PS5 mode runs at 60 frames per second, but also includes a whole host of visual improvements not in the other modes. The game has better shadows, screen space reflections, and more highly detailed character models, which is only vaguely hinted at in the options. However, the game runs at a lower resolution than 4K. This is good for players who want the best visual settings and don’t care as much about having a 4K resolution.

How to change game modes in Nioh Collection

To change game modes in Nioh Remastered or Nioh 2 Remastered, players have to quit out of the game and go to the main menu. Once there, choose “Game Mode Settings” in the settings menu. The three aforementioned game modes — PS5 Mode, 4K Mode, and 120 fps Mode — will be there. Players cannot do this during gameplay and can only change it in the main menu.
