An Assassin’s Creed Valhalla multiplayer mode wouldn’t be too hard to fathom, given how the series has had co-op and competitive modes in the past. But Origins and Odyssey did not have any sort of online modes, showing how the new era of the franchise has focused on offline modes. So is there an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla co-op mode?
Does Assassin’s Creed Valhalla have co-op?
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a single-player game and does not have cooperative multiplayer. Players can only play as Eivor by themselves. Ubisoft has not hinted at or mentioned the possibility of multiplayer coming to the game at all like Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends update. The series has not had multiplayer since 2013’s Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.
Is there Assassin’s Creed Valhalla multiplayer of any kind?
There is some sort of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla online connectivity, but it is not conventional. As was the case in the previous two games, players can avenge dead users by finding their corpse and killing the NPCs that killed them in their game. These don’t show up often, but they are short and yield some quick, easy rewards.
Players can also create Jomsvikings, which are avatars they can dress up and customize (and equip upgraded weapons on) at the barracks in the settlement in England. Jomsvikings can be sent to other players and will populate the world. They show up in the map as a little white helmet icon and are usually found in towns.
Eivor can walk up to a Jomsviking and spend 100 silver to hire them. The online ID of the person who made it will show up when talking to the Jomsviking. Players will get paid in silver every time their Jomsviking is used by another player. It’s not much — 100 silver — but it is something and lets the game have some sort of online mode in a primarily single-player space.
These Jomsvikings can also be assigned to raiding crews by going to the woman near the barracks and talking to her. Someone in the existing rotation has to be slotted out.
