Is there Mortal Shell PvP? Dueling other players online can add longevity to a Soulslike and also be the truest test of player skill. Will the same be true of developer Cold Symmetry‘s effort? Find out in this Mortal Shell competitive multiplayer guide.
Mortal Shell PvP | Is there local or online competitive play?
No, Mortal Shell does not feature online or local PvP. You won’t be able to engage in competitive multiplayer duels in Mortal Shell, and the developers don’t currently have plans to implement PvP in the future.
Since the game is being developed by a small independent team, it just doesn’t have the resources to shift its focus away from the solo Mortal Shell experience right now. We know this thanks to a tweet from @MortalShellGame, made in response to a fan inquiry:
“Focused on single player. No plans for PvP / co-op currently.”
While it’s disappointing news, “no plans for PvP currently” does at least seem to indicate that the feature could be considered for implementation at a later date. We may or may not see a Mortal Shell PvP update at some point; all we can do for now is wait and see.
Mortal Shell PvP | Is there competitive multiplayer?
- No, Mortal Shell doesn’t have PvP support.
- There are “no plans for PvP currently” according to the developer.
- That wording doesn’t completely rule out Mortal Shell competitive multiplayer being added in the future.
The Mortal Shell launch date was recently revealed to be August 18. The game will join Hellpoint and the Nioh 2 Tengu’s Disciple expansion in a strong summer for Soulslikes.
Mortal Shell will launch on PC (via the Epic Games Store), PS4, and Xbox One. Curious about the Steam version and a potential Nintendo Switch release? As a visually stunning game, you might also be wondering about a possible Mortal Shell Xbox Series X and PS5 version.
