Cult of the Lamb tasks players with building a cult in the name of an ominous stranger who saves a lamb from annihilation. So far the game has been confirmed to have a single-player campaign, but will players be able to pool their followers and create a super cult together in co-op online or in split-screen? Does Cult of the Lamb have a co-op mode?
Cult of the Lamb does not have any co-op modes at launch, either through online play or through local split-screen. However, Art Director James Pearmain has previously said that it’s a feature the team is exploring as part of the game’s post-launch content. One of developer Massive Monster’s previous games, The Adventure Pals, offered couch co-op but not online co-op and as the latter is a feature the team has never implemented into a game before, it will be “a real challenge” to add online co-op into the game:
“It’s definitely something we’d like to do, but it’s not something we’ll do for its official launch. And I think that’s something we explore later. I think a co-op mode could be cool, but we need to figure out exactly how it would work and we’ve never offered online co-op, so that would be a real challenge for us. But it’s definitely something we’d like to do, but we don’t have any solid plans yet.”
Does the game have PvP modes?
Cult of the Lamb does not have any PvP modes at launch. According to publisher Devolver Digital, there are currently no plans to add any competitive multiplayer modes at this time. As Pearmain described the implementation of online co-op as a challenge, the chances of them going a step further and adding competitive online multiplayer in the future are likely to be slim.
