A tremendous amount of nostalgia goes hand-in-hand with the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, so fans were understandably excited to learn about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered. Bundling the first two games into one package, its announcement was unfortunately soured for some by the absence of a Switch announcement. Could there be a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered Nintendo Switch port in the future, though?
Is Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered coming to Nintendo Switch?
As we alluded to in the opening, there’s currently no word from Activision or Vicarious Vision regarding a potential Pro Skater Remastered Switch version. Obviously, there’s no known Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered Nintendo Switch release date as a result.
ALSO: Why Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 Remastered is inevitable (and I can’t wait)
Pro Skater Remastered has only been confirmed for PC, PS4, and Xbox One at the time of writing. It’s scheduled to release for those platforms on September 4, 2020.
Although this probably isn’t the news that you wanted to read, there’s still hope that we could see Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered on Nintendo Switch eventually. The two games featured in THPS Remastered first launched on the original PlayStation, so getting a version working on Nintendo’s weaker hybrid handheld shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Moreover, Activision has a track record for bringing its classic PSX remasters to Switch after they launch on other platforms. It happened with Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, the latter of which was even developed by the same studio as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Remastered.
Although it’s merely speculation at this point, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear a THPS Remastered Nintendo Switch release date announcement in the future. Provided that the game does well enough on other formats to justify the development expense, that is.
