Final Fantasy 7 Remake Coin Toss | Heads, Tails, or No Deal

During Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you’ll encounter a coin toss with Chocobo Sam. You’ll need to choose between heads, tails, or whether you don’t want to take the bet at all. This decision does affect your game, but it’s not immediately apparent what it is.

Fortunately, I’ve played through this scene multiple times, and I can tell you exactly what the coin toss does in Chapter 9.

Should I choose heads, tails, or no deal for the coin toss in Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

After you see Tifa heading into Wall Market, you’ll find out that she’s slated to be one of Don Corneo’s “brides.” To save her from her fate, you’ll need to gain entrance to the Don’s mansion. To get an invite, you need to convince one of the Wall Market Trio to endorse you.

Your first stop in your journey to secure an endorsement is Chocobo Sam. He’ll agree to endorse you if you win a coin flip. However, you can’t win the coin toss in Chapter 9 of FF7 Remake, so don’t worry about that. Chocobo Sam has a trick coin, and he’ll play you whether you choose heads or tails.

The real effect that your choice during the coin toss has is on which set of side quests you’ll have access to during Chapter 9. After you fight through the colosseum, you’ll have to return to Madame M’s. When you get there, she’ll either give you her request list or tell you to see Sam and get his requests.

What choice you select during the coin toss affects which request list you’ll get:

  • Choose heads or tails: Sam’s request list
  • Choose “No deal.”: Madame M’s request list

Note that this choice also affects which dress Cloud will get. So, make your selection wisely.
