Asgard's Wrath Oculus Quest and PSVR release dates

Asgard’s Wrath Oculus Quest and PSVR Release Dates | Is it coming to Vive, Index, WMR?

Asgard’s Wrath has been a massive success story. Releasing exclusively for Oculus Rift, it’s been lauded as one of the few large-scale games to successfully make the transition from a 2D screen to the 3D realms of virtual reality (VR). In a landscape that’s more often filled with comparatively fleeting “experiences,” it’s only natural that questions regarding Asgard’s Wrath Oculus Quest and PSVR release dates would emerge. Not only that, but people are also curious about whether Asgard’s Wrath HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) versions are in the works.

In this guide, we’ll aim to decipher whether Asgard’s Wrath might eventually reach any of these VR platforms.

Is Asgard’s Wrath coming to PSVR, Vive, Index, and WMR?

It was recently announced via the Oculus Blog that Asgard’s Wrath developer Sanzaru Games (Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time) has been purchased by Facebook, the owner of Oculus. This places Sanzaru under the Oculus Studios umbrella, likely meaning that from now on they will develop VR games exclusively for the Oculus family of headsets.

Naturally, this means that the prospects for Asgard’s Wrath releasing on PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and WMR are looking pretty slim.

Is Asgard’s Wrath coming to Oculus Quest?

Since the wireless Quest headset is an Oculus product, an Asgard’s Wrath Oculus Quest version seems far more likely. In the aforementioned acquisition announcement, Oculus didn’t reveal what Sanzaru Games is working on next, but it did state that they’re looking “to bring those experiences to as many people as possible.” With this in mind, porting Asgard’s Wrath to Quest could certainly be a great first step in achieving wider exposure.

There’s a high demand for it to happen, though it’s hard to say whether or not it’s actually possible. As a standalone system Quest lacks raw horsepower by comparison to its PC-powered Oculus stablemates, so some significant downgrades would undoubtedly need to be made in order to get the game up and running.

Not only that, but the Asgard’s Wrath file size weighs in at a hefty 129.85 GB on PC, which is bigger than the internal memory of both Oculus Quest models (64GB and 128GB).
