The first of seemingly many Pokemon Masters Legendary Sync Pairs is in the game soon. From December 4, 2019, you will be able to take on Giovanni and Mewtwo as part of the Lurking Shadows event. In this Pokemon Masters Mewtwo guide, we’ll let you in on how to unlock Mewtwo in Pokemon Masters and why you’ll want to unlock the Mewtwo and Giovanni Sync Pair. Pokemon Masters Mewtwo | How to unlock
You’ll be able to unlock Mewtwo in Pokemon Masters from December 4. As stated above, you should be able to face-off against the Legendary Giovanni and Mewtwo Sync Pair from December 4, until December 18, 2019, at 9:59 PM PST. This is during the Lurking Shadows event and the Legendary Event Support Rally, which both last from November 27 to December 18. Legendary Sync events will return again in the future, too, so it’s not the end of the world if you fail to unlock Mewtwo right away.

To unlock Mewtwo and add it to your team, you will need to collect 800 Custom Vouchers while playing Pokemon Masters. You can earn Custom Vouchers through completing event areas. This will unlock a special area which contains the Giovanni and Mewtwo Sync Pair. In this area, you will be able to battle Giovanni and Mewtwo in an attempt to add them to your team. As Mewtwo is a powerful Legendary Pokemon, however, expect this battle to be tough. Who wouldn’t want Mewtwo in their team?
How to Defeat Giovanni and Mewtwo
To defeat Giovanni and Mewtwo, you will need a Dark-type Pokemon. Dark-type is super effective against Psychic. Luckily there are a few Dark-type Sync Pairs to choose from. Nanu and Persian and Cheren and Stoutland are two Sync Pairs you can unlock while playing the story of the game. Scouting Grimsley and Liepard might be your go-to choice here, however.
Grimsley is a Spotlight Scout lasting up until 9:59 PM PST December 18, 2019. If you manage to unlock this pair in time, that Giovanni and Mewtwo battle will be a sinch.
