If you’ve completed the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaign, then you’ll no doubt have a number of questions. The big one, however, is: Who is Simon Riley in Modern Warfare? This character’s identity is kept a mystery, with picture shown as missing from his file. Those familiar with the name will link the masked Ghost character with him. Here’s what you need to know about Ghost in Modern Warfare and what it could mean for future games in the series.
Who is Simon Riley in Modern Warfare?
If you were disappointed that Simon Riley didn’t appear in the Old Comrades mission, where Captain Price and Kyle “Gaz” Garrick team up with Nikolai, then you will have been relieved to have at least see his name pop up at the end of the game. While he isn’t featured prominently in this game, it’s now practically confirmed that he’ll be popping up in the (potential) sequel.

Simon “Ghost” Riley appeared in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. While he wore a mask hiding his face, his voice was the same as Gaz from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, with voice actor Craig Fairbrass playing both characters. This led to many theories about Gaz surviving the conclusion of CoD 4, where he was seemingly killed by a shot to the head.
With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare retelling the story of Captain Price, acting as a sort of prequel to the events of the 2007 game, it’s highly likely that we’ll see a version of Ghost appearing in future titles.
