Fortnite Nexus Event | Voting on Vaulted Items new leaks

Fortnite Nexus event leaks are doing the rounds on social media, offering teases at what’s likely to happen at the end of Season 8, and moving into Season 9. Thanks to dataminers who have dug deep into the latest update, we now have a good idea of what to expect during the end of season event, including the ability to vote on Vaulted Items, with the X-4 Stormwing plane, Infinity Blade sword, and more spotted. In addition to this, there is likely to also be a chance for players to hear the original Fortnite music. Here’s what we know about the Fortnite Nexus event!

What is the Fortnite Nexus Event?

Thanks to dataminers/leakers Lucas7yoshi_ and FortTory, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect during the upcoming Fortnite Nexus event. Leaked files show that a huge “Nexus” will form on the map, surrounded by Vaulted Items that are encased in a kind of crystal. A chair and desk are also present.

It’s expected that, once the Nexus activates in-game, players will be able to vote for a Vaulted Item to return. Choices appear to include the X-4 Stormwing, the Infinity Blade sword, and more.

The Nexus itself is thought to be the door of the Vault, where weapons and items go when they are removed from the game, either permanently or for rebalancing. It’s expected that players will be able to interact with the Nexus/Vault door to select a Vaulted Item that they want to permanently return. Votes for each item will then be tallied, with the winning choice (or choices) returning to the Battle Royale mode.

While Epic Games has made many changes to please the community, this is the first time that players will have a direct influence on what is added to the game. Here’s hoping the vote is won by a clear margin, as it has the potential to cause a lot of controversy.

Fortnite Nexus Event release date and time

The Fortnite Nexus event release date and time is expected to be during the end of Season 8, or at the beginning of Season 9. If Epic Games continues the trend of having massive game-changing events at the end and start of its Seasons, then this would make sense.

In addition to the new Fortnite voting system, the end of Season event is also expected to bring destruction to several popular named placed, including the fan-favorite Tilted Towers. Do note that this will likely be total destruction, as opposed to the minor changes that have occurred before.

It’s not yet clear whether or not the voting system will be linked to the destruction. However, with multiple places showing up as potentially becoming destroyed, it’s certainly possible that players will be selecting a Vaulted Item to return, a place to be destroyed or saved, and maybe some other options. This would make it worthy of an end of Season 8 event that really shakes up the meta and sets the scene for Season 9.

Of course, while it’s highly likely that this event will happen in the next couple of weeks, it’s worth bearing in mind that sometimes these events can be delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, or simply because of a change of mind from the developers. While the Fortnite Nexus event is currently teased in the game files, it could be delayed or removed, so do at least consider that the event might not happen!

Fortnite Nexus Event original music Easter egg

If you were playing Fortnite way back in Season 1, you might recall the original music that played in the lobby area. That was quickly swapped out by Epic Games, to the disappointment of some fans.

While desperate players have turned to open source software that allows for the game’s music files to be tweaked, others have simply moved on and accepted that they might never hear it again.

Happily, it looks like the Fortnite Nexus event will be bringing back the original music, as on the desk placed in front of the portal, players will see a boombox. Moving close to the boombox allows the player to hear the original Fortnite soundtrack. What a great Easter egg for those players who have been around since the beginning!
