Fortnite Vending Machine: What Does the Vending Machine Do?

The Fortnite vending machine is the latest item to be teased by Epic Games. Players bringing up the in-game “News” tab will see that the vending machine has been added to the list. It’s marked with the usual “Coming Soon” text, as well as a description of what it does.

Fortnite Vending Machine: What Does the Vending Machine Do?

The Fortnite vending machine’s description reads: “Trade in spare materials for extra gear!” The item’s image shows a shotgun that’s purchasable for 300 materials. Therefore, we can assume that Fortnite vending machines will spit out gear — which includes powerful weapons, like shotguns — in exchange for the three different material types.

Appearing in the Battle Royale portion of the game, the Fortnite vending machine will provide players with an additional way of finding weapons. If a player lands in a bad spot without much loot, but sees a vending machine surrounded by trees, they can at least acquire a weapon through chopping down trees and trading in the wood.

It’s an interesting item that’s sure to spice up the meta. With players often finishing rounds with excess materials, having another use for them seems like a good thing. Of course, we’ll only really know how balanced the vending machines are once they’re out in the wild, being used by the millions of gamers now playing Fortnite Battle Royale.

Fortnite Vending Machine: When Is the Vending Machine Release Date?

The Fortnite vending machine has been teased as “coming soon.” This usually means that it will be added to the game the same week as the reveal. I’d personally expect it on Friday, April 6. However, as seen with the jetpack, delays can happen, so don’t rule out that possibility.

Before the Fortnite vending machine release date, expect more teases to be posted on the game’s social media channels, as well as on YouTube.
