Battlefield 2042 was already out of the bag, though, thanks to some new leaks, there might not be much left to reveal at today’s event. Data miners have discovered hidden game files via Origin, uncovering a potential Battlefield 2042 release date and futuristic gameplay details. Chief amongst these is the ability to “summon a robotic dog built for battle” and “employ a grappling hook” within the new Battlefield game.
When is the Battlefield 2042 release date?
Leaks indicate that the Battlefield 2042 release date is Friday, October 15, 2021.
This could be an exclusive early access period for Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition owners, however. Keeping that in mind, the general launch date is likely to fall on or around Tuesday, October 19.
Reliable leaker @Biast12 shared the October 15 launch date on Twitter, while also indicating that three versions will be available to purchase. These are the Battlefield 2042 Standard, Gold, and Ultimate editions. Although there’s no official information just yet, it appears as though Battlefield 2042 Ultimate Edition owners may enjoy an exclusive early access period.

In addition to launch and version news, the leak shares an apparent overview of the game’s narrative. Without getting too deep into spoiler territory, the U.S.A. and Russia look to be at the center of the conflict. Of course, multiplayer is still a heavy focus and the leaked game code indicates that seven “vast” maps will support up to 128 players in Battlefield 2042.
Players will seemingly be able to customize their weapons and loadouts in numerous familiar ways, though also some exciting new ones. The leaked Battlefield 2042 info boasts the ability to “summon a robotic dog built for battle, employ a grappling hook or don your very own wingsuit.” Wingsuits seem like a dead cert, as there’s already a screenshot of one in action (above). No sign of the grappling hook and robotic battle dog yet, but here’s hoping for more info during the upcoming reveal event.
