Braindances were hyped as a big component of Cyberpunk 2077, so it would make sense if there were optional ones. In fact, in one of the shops on Jig-Jig Street, a store sells “special” Braindances that one would think V could use. After all, Judy does give V a portable Braindance harness during the course of a story, so players must be able to use it, right?
Unfortunately, the Braindances that players can buy from the Jig-Jig Street store have a description that reads, “Bonus Material. Incompatible with your software.” So, the question is whether there a way to find software that lets the player use these optional Braindances in Cyberpunk 2077.
Are there optional Braindances in Cyberpunk 2077?
Some of the side missions in Cyberpunk 2077 do feature Braindances that would be considered “optional.” However, most players will wonder whether or not Braindances can be purchased and watched via the harness Judy gives V.
BDs can be bought at several locations in the game, the most prominent being found on Jig-Jig Street. Here, a sex shop sells titles such as:
- 3 Mouths 1 Desire
- 6th Gear
- Aftershoxxx
- Conquerer 9000
- Count Destroyer
- Epicurian Sonata
- Midnight Visitor
- Wet Dream
There are other vendors that sell even more questionable BDs as well, one of which players meet during one of Judy’s side quests.
What does “Bonus Content. Incompatible with your software” mean in Cyberpunk 2077?
Unfortunately, all of the Braindances that players can find as inventory items in Cyberpunk 2077 are labeled the same way. They each have “Bonus Content. Incompatible with your software.” in the description.
This description simply means that V’s harness isn’t compatible with the BDs. There’s no lore reason given for this, and it doesn’t really make sense. V’s harness is said to be some of the latest and greatest BD hardware, so it should play anything that’s thrown at it.
In the 2018 gameplay demo, V’s apartment had a control panel located on the window that had “Braindance” as an option. It seems at one point, optional Braindances were available in Cyberpunk 2077 but were likely cut when devs ran out of time.
