Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t an exceptionally child-friendly game. There is nudity, violence, and the title deals with heavy topics like sexual abuse and drug use. Also, when naked characters are onscreen, they’re often engaging in sex acts. Parents are cautioned against letting their children play the game entirely, but those who are more lenient may wonder if there’s a way to turn off nudity in Cyberpunk 2077.
Can you disable nudity in Cyberpunk 2077?
Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a corporate-run dystopia, where people are commoditized and used. This, along with the proliferation of cybernetics, has almost eliminated the last vestige of modesty society had. As such, nudity is often seen in advertising, and adult entertainment is found all over the city.
Unlike with Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, the nudity settings are very limited. During character creation, players have the option to customize breast size, penis size, public hair pattern, and other attributes. Alternatively, this is the one place that players have the choice to turn nudity off, but only for the player character’s genitals. However, this option is only available during character creation and can’t be changed once the game is started.
While there is a large amount of casual nudity throughout Cyberpunk 2077, penetrative sex is only implied in a smattering of optional cutscenes. Full-frontal nudity is only seen several times during the game, with the majority of naked characters only showing buttocks or breasts.
Sexual violence is mostly discussed instead of seen. However, there are several disemboweled nude corpses throughout the game as well.
Given how tightly sexual exploitation and dehumanization are tied into the game’s story, there’s no real way to tell it without massive censorship. As such, in addition to nudity, there are graphic depictions of violence throughout the game, including dismemberment and decapitation.
Anyone bothered by graphic violence and nudity should avoid Cyberpunk 2077. Outside of selecting not to show the player character’s genitals, there are no censorship options in the game.
