Mortal Kombat 11 is less than a week away. However, we still haven’t seen much Mortal Kombat 11 Switch gameplay outside of a few frames in a trailer. Today, NetherRealm finally released an extended trailer showcasing what the bloody fighting game looks like on Nintendo’s handheld.
The MK11 Switch trailer showcases the same gameplay we’ve seen in the multiple trailers from the other versions. And that is a good thing. However, it doesn’t look quite as pretty as those higher resolution iterations as it lacks some lighting and effects. But that makes sense, given the Switch’s hardware inferiority. It does seem to run well, which matches hearsay from the few that have played it at PAX East.
While this trailer doesn’t mean the full game will run flawlessly, it does look like a step up from Mortal Kombat 9‘s Vita version. It was a decent port and garnered some positive reviews but it often criticized for its relatively lower framerate and drastically downscaled visuals. The Vita port of MK9 ran at 30 frames per second while the Switch port of MK11 runs at 60 frames per second, which should alleviate some fears.
We spoke to a team member from NetherRealm back in January and he stated that it was being developed at Shiver. But that was mainly all the information we had until now. NetherRealm’s secrecy surrounding it a bit alarming, but this trailer looked and seemed to run well enough. You can see the full trailer with some Switch gameplay in the trailer below.
The full Mortal Kombat 11 roster has been revealed and most of it it was done officially. NetherRealm has only not talked about Frost’s inclusion in the game, which leakers were more than happy to share. While the roster did leak, the entire game has been leaked too, so be aware of spoilers floating about.
