Natsume Inc. and Rising Star Games have announced that Harvest Moon: Light of Hope Special Edition will be releasing on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch in May 2018.
With a price tag of $39.99, the Special Edition of Harvest Moon: Light of Hope will contain additional features and content not available in the PC version of the game on Steam. The President and CEO of Natsume Inc., Hiro Maekawa, has stated that it will release the bonuses and extra content for the Special Edition in the coming months, leading to the official release window in May 2018.
Harvest Moon: Light of Hope was released for the PC in 2017, coinciding with the 20th year anniversary of the franchise. It was also notable for being the very first Harvest Moon game on the PC.
The game sees players drifting into a harbor town left in a shambles after being hit by a storm. It is now up to the player to rebuild the town, regrow the crops and save the lighthouse. The original release of Harvest Moon: Light of Hope added new festivals, including a Dog Racing festival, as well as a marriage system similar to Harvest Moon: Skytree Village, with five bachelors and bachelorettes to choose from. Old favorites from previous games like the first Harvest Moon, Harvest Moon 64, Back to Nature and Friends of Mineral Town also return.
Harvest Moon: Light of Hope will also be the first in the franchise to release on current generation consoles. However, the series sowed confusion between fans when Natsume Inc. continued developing their own series of Harvest Moon games while XSEED Games and Marvelous Interactive started bringing the series to North America under a new name, Story of Seasons.
