Announcing announcement is all the rage for mid-level hype building these days. If you want people to pay attention to a game that normally wouldn't deserve it, the best thing you can do is announce that you'll be making an announcement, and then the internet will be all over it. Truly, who can ever forget where I was when Dungeon Siege III was revealed as the subject of Square Enix's biggest mystery tease of 2011 (they called it Project X), or what they spit out when Sega unveiled 7th Dragon for the DS? That said, three big announcements are looming in the near future, from as many different sources.
Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei exist as the remains of two companies each, but look to become one with… God knows what, but there's a countdown site displaying "Namco Bandai X Tecmo Koei," and the popular bet seems to be that "Musou" will be somewhere in the title.
Yakuza series creator is also getting in on the action, and announced today that he'll announce an announcement tomorrow at 3:00pm JST. That's 2:00am EST. It'll be happening live on Nicovideo.
Last but not least and, actually, probably most interesting is Atlus Japan's newest website, which might play host to a new anime property or something related to popular PS2 RPG Persona 4. It's written in the style and font used in Persona 4's logo and promo materials, and manga magazine Dengeki Maoh vaguely promises a big announcement in its next issue. It does not guarantee that this is game related, however, as there is a pretty popular Persona 4 anime series.
With all these announcements being announced, be sure to check back and see what these announcements turn out to be, when they are officially announced.
