Amiibo Support Coming to Smash Bros. 3DS Very Soon

Nintendo will be rolling out an update tomorrow for 3DS owners that adds amiibo functionality to the device.

"A free update will also be released on 10th February for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS that will enable amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. Collection to be used with the new systems," Nintendo of Europe announced in a press release.

While older models of 3DS don't support NFC out of the box, Nintendo plans to release an add-on that will allow users to scan in their figurines. Meanwhile, those who pick up a New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL will have the functionality built right in.
