Anda Seat Mask 2 Review: ‘Solid desk with alluring RGB lighting’

ANDA SEAT MASK 2 REVIEW.

I’ve looked at a lot of Anda Seat chairs, one of which is my all-time favorite gaming seats, but I’ve never checked out the company’s desks. Though it’s perplexingly named, the Anda Seat Mask 2 is built to be a “gaming desk.” It achieves this by including an arsenal of features suited to the gamer lifestyle, like a cupholder, cable management tray, and, of course, RGB lighting. It’s unapologetically gamer-themed and would look the part in any video game-centric area. Looks aside, how’s the build process, quality, and overall value for money? Find out in my review.

Goes up easy-ish

First things first: setting up the Mask 2 desk. Happily, the process is simple and so I can explain it pretty speedily. Though the instructions could certainly be clearer, attaching and screwing on the legs doesn’t take too much thought. The materials for the desk and legs feel very sturdy and it all fits together nicely.

Unfortunately, the actual rigging up of the RGB and attaching of the not-so-high-quality peripherals like the cable management tray and drink holder is a little finicky. With that said, I managed to put it all together on my own in under 40 minutes.

No wobble here

Once in place, the desk is reassuringly weighty and can apparently hold up to 330 lbs. While I didn’t test that heavy of a weight, it happily supported my two-monitor setup and small PC. With that kind of setup, you are going to reach the limit of space with this 47″ long and 23″ wide desktop. I certainly wouldn’t want it to be any smaller. Overall, the size is a happy medium between an overkill monster desk and a tiny table.

The cable management holes and tray work well enough at hiding the many cables that drop down from a gamer’s desk, with my monitor, PC, microphone, speakers, mouse, keyboard, and headphone wires all being tidily tucked away. The desktop’s “carbon fiber textured” material provides a good non-slip surface that keeps those devices in place.

Bring on the RGB!

Anda Seat Mask 2 Review

On each side of the desk, including the legs, there’s a good amount of RGB lighting. I was happy to see that this was powered by USB, instead of demanding another plug socket. It’s pretty bright, too, and can easily be customized to match a user’s setup. If you’re big into RGB, then this isn’t going to disappoint!

Other key aspects of the desk include the peripherals. I’ve mentioned the cupholder and cable management tray, but there’s also a headphone hook. Though these are all functional and have survived my rather thorough testing with some heavy items over long periods of time, the overall plastic material is a jarring contrast to the high-quality metal of the desk itself. The plastic components stand out and do feel cheap.

Anda Seat Mask 2 Review: The final verdict

Anda Seat Mask 2 Review

With the Mask 2, Anda Seat is offering an overtly gamer-themed desk made of high-quality materials and alluring RGB implementation. It’s just the additional components that could be better made to match the solid foundation.

At the usual price of $449, the Anda Seat Mask 2 is too expensive. Given the competition, this price is a bit extreme. Unless you are in love with this exact design, I can’t recommend it. However, when there’s a sale on, it’s definitely worth a look. At the time of writing, the Mask 2 is available for $199.99. That’s $250 off! At that price, it’s attractive and I think many passionate gamers will be happy to own it.

The good news is that Anda Seat regularly has a sale on, with them practically rolling into one another. Keep an eye out for that steep discount and snag a great desk for a good price.
