Could there soon be a Spider-Man Miles Morales movie? With tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home now available for the December 17 release, fans undoubtedly have questions about the future of Spider-Man movies. Sony’s Amy Pascal has now confirmed that a full new Spider-Man movie trilogy set in the MCU is on the cards, but could that trilogy be a Miles Morales live-action movie trilogy and not another Peter Parker series?
Is a Spider-Man Miles Morales movie being made?
It is entirely possible that the next Spider-Man movie will be about Miles Morales and his introduction to the MCU, with Peter Parker as a mentor character. In a new interview with Fandango, series producer Amy Pascal told them that No Way Home is not “the last Spider-Man movie” and that Sony is “getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel” as part of a new Spider-Man trilogy. However, Pascal would only confirm Tom Holland for the first movie of that trilogy and only said “Spider-Man,” not “Peter Parker.”
Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has now been in six Marvel movies. In a recent interview with GQ, Pascal said they wanted to keep making movies with him but Holland specifically says, “maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film.” It would certainly be possible, especially as both Homecoming and the No Way Home trailers have teased or referenced Miles.
With the exception of the animated movie Into The Spider-Verse, Miles Morales has never been in a movie, and yet he’s an enormously popular character. Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 will feature both him and Peter Parker, and numerous elements of his comics run have influenced the MCU version — most notably, Peter’s geeky friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) is an original character clearly based on Miles’ friend Ganke Lee. With No Way Home almost certainly set to introduce multiple Spider-Men and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier introducing a new Captain America, it could well be time for Miles Morales to swing into live-action — if he hasn’t already done so.
