The Daily Vote Switch Ports

The Daily Vote | What game should come to the Nintendo Switch?

The Daily Vote is a daily community feature in which GameRevolution’s readers choose the victor of a hotly-contested topic. Today we ask which which game needs to come to the Nintendo Switch the most.

The Switch has a reputation as a port machine, but that’s not a bad thing. We’ve loved the opportunity to take games like Doom, Skyrim, and Undertale on the go, and the Switch’s mobility brings a unique aspect to the porting process. If anything, we hope more many beloved games come to Switch in the future.

The GR editorial team weighed in on which games they think need to come to Switch, but now it’s your turn. Vote on your most wanted Switch port below on Twitter or Facebook (or leave your own choice in the comments.) Tomorrow, as always, we’ll reveal the winners in The Daily Vote.

Jason Faulkner, senior editor: I think Overwatch would make an excellent addition to the Switch’s lineup. It already can run on a potato, so I don’t see a massive loss of fidelity if it’s ported to Switch, and it’s the kind of pick up and play shooter that would be great on the go. I’m honestly surprised that Blizzard hasn’t already made this happen.

Mack, lead editor: I’d love to see Overwatch on the Nintendo Switch. A hero shooter like that would be great for the Switch, offering some unique first-person shooter gameplay combined with less-intense support mechanics. I think it would work well in both at-home and portable modes, with some characters not requiring absolute precision. For example, Mercy could be played optimally even on a small screen and with the hand-held controls.

Michael Leri, features editor: While it’s tempting to say Overwatch because of how it could be the fantastic multiplayer game the Switch needs, Hearthstone feels more appropriate given the console’s strengths. Playing a card game is way more conducive to its handheld mode as it would be a good thing to pick up and play. Plenty of people play Overwatch (and many other games) somewhere else on better systems, but a card game matches the platform more than most genres.
