This Week’s Game Releases: God of War, Yakuza 6, Nintendo Labo, and More

It’s a big week for video games, with God of War finally releasing while Yakuza 6 will also make its way to the PS4. If these two critically acclaimed new releases weren’t enough, then Switch owners will also receive the Nintendo Labo, with the oddball cardboard toys providing new ways to play for kids to get creative.

Take a look at this week’s new game released below:

God of War is the biggest PS4 game of the year so far, with it attracting universal critical acclaim including our own 5 out of 5 rating. A fresh take on the popular PlayStation franchise from Sony Santa Monica Studio, God of War sees Kratos guiding his son through a dangerous world filled with mythical beasts from Norse mythology, trying to simultaneously tackle the whole “parenthood” thing while coming to terms with his life of violence.

PS4 owners who aren’t really into the new God of War will be pleased to hear that this week boasts another major release, with Yakuza 6: Song of Life being another highly praised game that is set to release on the console. Yakuza 0 successfully introduced many Westerners to Sega’s action-adventure series, and with Yakuza 6 being a bigger and better entry in the franchise, fans of the last release will certainly want to jump on this follow-up.

Nintendo is really using its imagination with the Switch, as evidenced in games such as Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. However, while these games were certainly unique in their own way, the company is moving into uncharted territory with the Nintendo Labo, a cardboard kit that allows users to make DIY gadgets that can be used to play a variety of mini-games. It looks like a lot of fun and should be a great way to get kids to start thinking creatively while playing their video games.
