This Planet Coaster Creator Has Recreated More than 25 of the World’s Best Roller Coasters

Planet Coaster is the top trending game of the week, achieving the best seller spot on the Steam Store as well as over 20,000 concurrent players within 24 hours of launch. It's popular for a number of reasons, too. Not only is it the first well-made theme park simulator in more than a decade, but it makes a strong effort to support creative vision with a series of powerful tools.

A creator by the name of Joey Designs has become the talk of the town in Planet Coaster's creative circles during the past couple weeks. In a very short period of time he has crafted a total of 26 works, each of which replicate the most iconic rollercoasters in the world. These virtual replicas not only look remarkably similar to their real-world counterparts, with colorful designs and all, but they produce a series of emotions from riders that they remember long after they've finished the ride.

To underscore how great these creations are, let's look at a few of them.

Alpengeist – Busch Gardens

Coaster Type: Steel Inverted

Height: 195ft

Speed: 67mph

Video: On-Ride Footage

Known as the world's tallest complete circuit inverted coaster, Alpengeist is a vicious ride that has been a fan favorite among locals since it was constructed in 1997. Its name translates to "Ghost of the Alps", which works beautifully with its ghostly colors and cabin-like theme. This ride pairs well with Planet Coaster's Alpine theme, where you can decorate the environment very similarly to Busch Gardens.

Riders travel through six break-neck inversions at nearly 70 miles per hour, a tall order for even the most experienced riders. As Busch Gardens says, Alpengeist will haunt you long after you are finally released from its power. You might just want to erect this one next to a pirate themed portion of your park for good vibes.

Banshee – Kings Island, Cedar Fair

Coaster Type: Steel Inverted

Height: 167ft

Speed: 68mph

Video: On-Ride Footage

Known as the longest inverted roller coaster, the Banshee is one of the most popular rides at Kings Island. It has earned accolades for having a fantastic flow and rhythm, keeping riders on edge from beginning to end.

Banshee is a female-inspired ride with purple and pink colorization that stands out from most rides around the world, making it a great diversifier for your park. Its over 4,100 feet of track includes a curved drop, dive loop, zero-g-roll, outside loop, spiral, in-line-roll, and beloved Carousel. It isn't a ride for the faint of heart, but those who give it a chance almost always away with a smile on their face.

Diamondback – Kings Island

Coaster Type: Steel

Height: 230ft

Speed: 80mph

Video: On-Ride Footage

Diamondback is unique in that it features a splashdown section that soaks riders. This, combined with its fast speeds and tall drops, makes it one of the most exciting hypercoasters on the planet.

Be sure to clear a lot of space before placing this ride, as its over 5,000 feet of length requires a ton of room. Though, it's only around three minutes in length, so you can push thousands of riders through the line and make great money.

Superman: Ultimate Flight – Six Flags Great America

Coaster Type: Steel Flying

Height: 106ft

Speed: 51mph

Video: On-Ride Footage

Flying coasters have become incredibly popular in recent years, especially with the debut of Tatsu at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Superman: Ultimate Flight has been a crowd pleaser in a way that many didn't expect when it was revealed that it wasn't going to be like Superman: The Ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

This recreation has gone to great lengths, featuring a custom Superman logo, true-to-life coloring, and summoning a similar amount of nausea from riders. But hey, at least they get to experience what it would be like to have wings and fly.

Titan – Six Flags Over Texas

Coaster Type: Steel

Height: 245ft

Speed: 85mph

Video: On-Ride Footage

This unique ride is an out and back roller coaster with twister elements. It begins with a hyper drop that feeds into a tunnel and camel hump. Although riders are usually most afraid of its first drop, it's the helices that are the most unforgiving. Riders have been known to black out from two sequences that push the legal limits of g forces.

Titan is considered one of the greatest rides in the world with big numbers to show for it. If you've been to Six Flags Magic Mountain you've likely ridden something similar called Goliath. In effect, this recreation applies to both coasters, which are intense but will win a lot of attention from your park visitors.

Viper – Six Flags Magic Mountain

Coaster Type: Steel

Height: 188ft

Speed: 70mph

Video: On-Ride Footage

Viper is considered a classic among coaster enthusiasts. Its red and white paint job signifies its 26 years of history, a portion of which it held records for tallest looping coaster.

It was one of the first rollercoasters I ever rode, and was part of my ascension to becoming a rollercoaster addict. By today's standards it's a bit rough, but virtual riders don't seem to care. It's a simple ride that is an attractive option for visitors of all kinds, from coaster newbies to veterans, meaning you can place it near a carousel without upsetting too many families.

X2 – Six Flags Magic Mountain

Coaster Type: 4th Dimension Steel

Height: 175ft

Speed: 76mph

Video: On-Ride Footage

X2 is my favorite rollercoaster in the world, and many agree. It is second to none, using a 4th dimension steel configuration to orient riders independently from the track. This means you face in a variety of directions as you sail through its 3,600 feet of intensity.

This recreation goes as far as to include flamethrowers and a nearly identical station. It's quite a feat that more than just about any other entry on this list showcases the expansive toolkit of Planet Coaster.
