Peripheral and PC Hardware Manufacturer Razer Entering VR Market

Razer announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV that it has a new virtual reality project it's inviting gamers to work on directly with the Razer team titled "the Open-Source Virtual Reality ecosystem."

GamesIndustry reported on the news and said that Razer hopes the "OSVR Hacker Dev Kit" will be the heart of that ecosystem priced at $200 with a head-mounted display "sold at cost."

That's obviously big news for gamers interested in VR and technology, though it's not far from the cost of other VR headsets currently available or sold as a reward for generous backers. "On the software side, Razer said OSVR will support Unity 3D, Unreal Engine, device plug-ins from hardware makers like Bosch, Sixense, and LeapMotion."

Razer also announced Forge TV which will cost $100 and acts a set-top box for gamers. For more details, consumers are directed to Razer's OSVR website.
